The Fremont Residences

Category

Live: Multi-Family

Description

Named after one of the American West’s great explorers, The Fremont Residences at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado is a 253-unit apartment community both grounded in history and focused on the future.

Elegant and functional living spaces ranging in size and configuration from studios to three-bedroom townhomes and walk-up row homes are designed to elevate the way people experience their home, the community and the outdoors. The client was seeking to create unit interiors that evoke a sense of custom residence to support and attract world-class medical professionals and students to the bioscience campus. Unit offerings including fireplaces, private entries, gardens and roof terraces allow residents to craft their living space and experience a more unique sense of home. As the social hub, kitchens feature communal island countertops oriented toward outdoor views. Custom built-in desks provide dedicated space for remote work and learning, and master bedrooms are filled with plentiful natural light. Clean lines textured by natural stone and warmth permeates the residences. Shaker style painted wood cabinetry, brass accents and warm globe lighting offer a timeless palette, distinguishing the rental units from the commodity apartment properties nearby.

The Fremont is made up of five distinct districts. Open exchange between the buildings is accomplished with shared amenities including an elevated pool terrace and garden courtyard with distinct spaces for outdoor fitness and dining. The design team ensured all living units are connected to the outdoors, with views to either the Colorado plains or the shared courtyard experience. Interior public spaces including unit corridors that could not access outdoor views feature local Colorado art to establish a connection to place.

Inside, a Library Conservatory provides residents a restorative space for study, gathering and reflection. The Uber Waiting Room featuring artwork by local artists reflects the journey of John Frémont, 19th-century explorer of the Rocky Mountains and namesake of the dynamic and active residential community.
